18 AUGUST 1943 Islamorada, RLU Florida ![]() Photographed by Dick Smith and Craig Longhorn of the Keys to Fun In The Florida Sun tourist agency based in Key West. The guides had no idea what the discs were and no report to authorities was made. Instead, the photo became a cover spread for the next travelguide pamphlet the company put on the market two weeks later. This might have bolstered the local tourist industry, but it also marked the beginning of a rash of similar sightings all throughout the region. Within a month Islamorada became better known as Saucer Island |
