  • Citing close proximity and a common written language, the administrative responsibilities of Japan are turned over to Chinese President Chaing Kai Shek.

  • At the urgent request of the Spanish government for scientific aid, the League of Nations sponsors a survey of earthquake/tidal wave damaged areas in Portugal and the south of Spain - in particular the two massive "lakes" left behind by the event. Both bodies of water formed in those countries during the 9 Sept 1939 disaster are found to be ocean water deposits replete with thriving ecosystems. Preliminary measurements show the depth of Àguas del Infierno (Waters of Hell) and Mà Àgua (Bad Water) to be over 500 meters. A severely perplexed scientific community scrambles to obtain more information.

  • More amazing discoveries in the depths of Àguas del Infierno in southern Spain. A diving bell, the Karthik, on loan from the U.S. Deep Sea Command, photographs the remains of the Fortaleza - a sunken Brazilian freighter. The Fortaleza was on record of having been sunk off the coast of French Guiana in September 1939. Further diving operations photograph and map all portions of the Fortaleza - except for the aft end - which cannot be located.

  • Automakers Crosley and Kaiser-Frazier create a joint venture company called Atomoline to research and develop an atomic powered automobile.

  • Shiro Ishii and five of his followers are found guilty of crimes against humanity. All six freely admit their activities in China and show no remorse. All are hung within one hour of the ruling.

  • Lunar Space Station 2 becomes operational.

  • Lunar Base Tycho 1 becomes permanently self-sufficient with a three month period, rotating crew of 250 men and women. Work begins on a series of electromagnetic rail launch stations to boost ore and water ice out of the lunar gravity well for immediate transport to the orbit of Mars. This is an interim measure which will be discontinued at such time when Mars becomes self-sufficient. Heavy strip mining of designated Lunar "high-ore impact craters" commences.

  • A series of coded transmissions are received by the DOD from General Bud Rose, commander of Lunar Tycho Base 1. The transmissions relate eyewitness testimony regarding unidentified "star shaped" spacecraft observed near Tycho 1. This information is withheld from the public. There is no mention of damage or hostility.

  • Modulated gravity waves are detected emanating from water north of the Fiji Island group. At the same time there is evidence of increased seismic activity all around the Pacific Rim.
